Remember when I was all “I’M BACK, PEOPLE!” then I disappeared again?
Well, sometimes things are… complicated. Yes, I got extra busy with a contract
with Microsoft, but… hey… it is not like I was going to let that keep me from
entertaining my adoring fans!
So, I learned how to pull together a sweet YouTube video! I was showing Power BI Desktop,
with my bright shiny face in the corner cracking inappropriate jokes, it was going to be
GREAT! The problem was… it was not great.
I mean, the video was great. I was great. I was inappropriate. That was all fine, the
problem was Power BI Desktop… was not great. Well, more like it was terrible.
Well, more like… trying to use Map visualizations in Power BI was so frustrating, that the
only people that got to see the video were from Microsoft. I’m sure they had a swell time
watching me become increasingly sad and frustrated as I tried every iteration of { ZipCode,
City, State, “USA”} in various fields of Power BI to convince Bing and the visualization to
display my data in some reasonable way.
As the video was done a few weeks ago, there was also time spent telling you to hit the
Microsoft Data Insights Summit, and how I was looking forward to listening to Nate Silver…
but hey, that is now SOLD OUT!!
Some day, I will re-record the video with maps working and you can laugh at my
inappropriate jokes, and we will all be happy.
That day… is not this day.
